THE POPCORN REMOVAL PROCESS

REMOVAL OF THE OLD, OUT-OF-DATE POPCORN CEILING, AND REPLACING IT WITH A MORE MODERN STYLE OF CEILING WILL CHANGE THE WHOLE FEELING OF YOUR HOME.

What you should do before we get there:
Before we arrive you should remove all valuables and breakables from the work area. We will need to be able to move around freely in the room. If arrangements are not made ahead of time, we will move the necessary furniture to create a clear walkway for our crew. Also, please remember that you and your family will not have access to the work areas of your home during the removal and modernization process, so please plan accordingly.

What our removal experts will do:
Once your room or rooms are ready for our crew to work in; they will be “bagged-off” or covered completely (walls and floors) with a heavy duty plastic. Only the ceiling will be left exposed. Often, larger pieces of furniture can be left in the room and covered along with the walls and floors.

After “bagging-off” a room, the ceiling will be lightly sprayed with a wetting agent. This wetting agent makes the acoustic very soft and additionally helps to control the dust. Our crew will then scrape off the wetted ceiling material. Popcorn ceilings can absorb a lot of water and the trick is to wet it thoroughly but not over wet it. Too much water can damage the paper surface of the wallboard underneath. Once the acoustic ceiling is removed we will repair any damaged joints and nail spots.

Remember, we will be removing the finish from ceilings that may be 30 or 40 years old. It is quite likely that the existing drywall will need some repairs. Our experienced crew usually find most of these needed repairs to be minor. Commonly, we replace loose tape and repair nail holes.

Should we find more serious problems, such as the existence of mold due to previous water damage, you will be informed immediately. MEASURING FOR A NEEDED CEILING REPAIR

Once dry, your ceilings are ready for our expert finishers to apply the texture of your choice. After you have waited 48 hours for your texture to dry completely, you can have your painters come in and add the final touch to your beautiful new ceiling.
